Demi Lovato has raised over $7,500 after launching a Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation fundraiser in honour of Pride month. The singer took to social media to encourage fans to donate to the organisation and quickly surpassed her goal of $5,000 within hours.
GLAAD is a non-governmental media monitoring organization founded by LGBT people in the media.
The organization was founded in 1985 by Vito Russo, Lauren Hinds and Jewelle Gomez, and their main focus is discrimination in media.
They have two headquarters: one in New York City, and other in Los Angeles. GlAAD's president - Sarah Kate Ellis - resides in NY.
Numerous celebrities have encouraged people to donate to GLAAD, but Demi Lovato's plead last week managed to raise about 7 500 dollars, which is more than enough because the main goal was $5000.
